Living the Legacy - Pauline and JuneThree people, who lived in the same care home, tell their own personal stories of spending their childhood in care. We follow their emotional journeys to discover what they are doing today and how their upbringing affected them individually.

Paolo Hewitt is now in his forties and grew up in care. He was an orphan and then fostered, but when his foster parents changed their minds about adopting him he went back into care. He has had a challenging past but has managed to work for music companies, travelled the world as a music journalist and reached his dream of becoming an author.

Pauline Woods was one of the first people at the Burbank Care Home. Her mother passed away and Pauline and her sister were separated. She lived with an aunt for seven years before she was put into care. Pauline met her husband soon after leaving care and they have been together for nearly 40 years. She has secured her dream of having her own home and family - she has two children and two grandchildren. Pauline explains how a tough upbringing made her a stronger person and how she was determined to give her children everything she missed out on when she was growing up.

June's marriage failed and she found that her upbringing interfered with her ability to hold down a relationship due to insecurities and trust issues. Her four daughters found it hard to accept June leaving, but now understand how June's earlier life has affected her. She has now remarried and is a fantastic supportive grandmother who is learning to deal with her insecurities.

Many reunions take place during the programme. Paolo discovers he has a half-sister in England and family in Italy who he is now in contact with. And in an emotional reunion, Pauline meets up with June - her childhood best friend who was living at the Burbank Care Home at the same time as her.
