Meet the Team!

Baby Ben - Channel Mascot

Hi there. I'm only a few months old and I'm already being put to work! As well as modelling the Community Channel's new clothing line I am keeping up the spirits of everyone who works here. Unfortunately some work long hours and that means they don't get home enough to see their families.

I am here to remind them that they must go home. The Community Channel has grown a lot - watch me grow - I'll send you another picture in a few months time. By the way, I haven't got an email address at the moment, but you can contact my daddy Nigel Gregory (see below).

Jane Mote, Channel Controller
I sort out where we're going and how we get there. It's my job to come up with new ideas to expand the impact that charities and voluntary sector can have using our airspace and facilities. I talk lots - at public events and to anyone else who will listen. I am the main point of contact for most major external partnerships. I also try to get in more money to support our great work.
Jane Mote
Jeremy Smith, Head of Production
I look after the operations side of the Channel - anything electronic, plus the people (staff and volunteers) who operate it. Also direct shoots where necessary, edit on Avid likewise and set up commercial relationships with charities. I have also got a penchant for colour-coded charts.
Suzy Lambert, PR Manager
I'm the PR Manager, running the Press Office at the Channel and looking after all press enquiries. It's my job to get The Community Channel talked about in the media and promote our programming and our partnerships.
Sinead Hughes, Interactive TV Editor
I'm responsible for developing the UK's first dedicated interactive TV platform for charities. This enables over 7 million Sky digital satellite homes to make donations to selected charities and will soon enable them to volunteer their time to organisations - all via the red button on their remote controls. Our viewers can now contact us directly via their TV to tell us what they think of the programmes we're showing, order a fact sheet or find out how to get their organisation involved with the Channel. I share my desk with my 3 mini-cacti, and many Pret skinny lattes. I fully subscribe to the notion that a bad day on the water is better than a good day in the office...

Produced Soap Life, 5 part entertainment series with Fiona Phillips. I've also just finished producing First Up, a music talent show from Toxteth, Liverpool showcasing raw urban acts.

Becky Dick, Assistant Producer
I research and produce programmes for the Community Channel, including the series Cause Celeb. I also produce the weekly bulletin, Community News - so if you've got a story to tell then get in touch!
Coumba Fergusson, Assistant Producer
I work on a range of programmes for the channel and my role covers everything from doing the initial research on a project to directing and producing films.

Faye Ruck-Nightingale
Hi, I'm Faye. I look how we can further develop links with community groups, colleges and broadcasters. From geeing up volunteers to offering advice on careers, from researching contacts within community TV organisations to working with college media students. I'm currently checking out ideas of how the Channel can work with the BBC in partnerhsip with local organisations on particular topics. I also write the odd HR report or two!

Rhiannon Clarke, Audience Support

Catherine Sawle, Production Co-Ordinator
I look after the practical side of productions, booking out equipment and edit time aswell as managing the budgets for each project. I also provide an overall support for the channel's Controller, Jane Mote, and help look after recruitment processes and the volunteer scheme - so get in touch if you'd like to help out!

Channel On-Air Team

Abigail Dankwa, Acquisitions Producer
I have the unenviable task of making sure there is always a programme on your screen, in full and played out at the right time, without breaking any OFCOM regulations! The main part of my job is researching and sourcing new material to broadcast on the channel. These films come from partnerships with major broadcasters, charity and community organizations and individual filmmakers. When the films come in, I decide when they broadcast and organise getting them to air. If you have a film that you think would be good for The Community Channel, please send me a VHS copy with all your details.
Rebecca Fitton, Acquisitions Assistant
I liaise with broadcasters, production companies, independent filmmakers and charities to source tapes, stills and draw up contracts. I manage the tape library and programme database, as well as view tapes for compliance and suitability to air. I also assist the Acquisitions Producer with administering and sourcing new content. If you have any films that you would like to show on The Community Channel, send them in to our Acquisitions team.

Laxmin Pattni, Scheduler

Hi I'm the Channel Scheduler; I look after all the presentation/programming of the channel, as well as EPG's. Entering and planning the week’s schedules, making sure it all runs smoothly, pulling last minute programmes and entering any latest new editions - it’s a time orientated job with constant deadlines! I am also responsible for acquiring new advertising. If you have a new advert or programme that represents your charity or cause, we would love to hear from you, so please get in touch.

I'm the person who sees everything we do - I edit and compile all the programmes ready for transmission.

I jobshare with Matt - setting up, shooting and editing studio/location material for the Channel, including our magazine programme Action!

Special Projects - MadforArts

Jen Topping, MadforArts Project Manager
I look after the MadforArts project, which is about getting people with mental health issues to talk about what they think about art. I also oversee the Community Channel website, and present a weekly charity bulletin on the Channel called Action Update. I have the most untidy desk in the known universe.
