Meet the Team!

Nick Ware, Channel Controller
I'm the Channel Controller and look after the day to day running of the Channel.
Nick Ware
Jeremy Smith, Head of Production
I look after the operations side of the Channel - anything electronic, plus the people (staff and volunteers) who operate it. Also direct shoots where necessary, edit on Avid likewise and set up commercial relationships with charities. I have also got a penchant for colour-coded charts.

James Matheson, PR Manager
I'm the PR Manager, running the Press Office at the Channel and looking after all press enquiries. It's my job to get The Community Channel talked about in the media and promote our programming and our partnerships.

Sinead Hughes, Head of Interactive TV
I'm responsible for commissioning and developing the UK's first dedicated interactive TV platform for charities. This enables over 7 million UK Sky households to make donations to selected charities and also lets those viewers search for volunteering opportunities by postcode and interests - all via the red button on their remote controls. We’re now working on expending this service for our cable viewers. Our viewers can contact us directly via their TV to tell us what they think of the programmes we're showing, order a fact sheet on a range of programme-related subjects, read today's Community News stories or find out how to get their organisation involved with the channel. I share my desk with my 3 mini-cacti and I fully subscribe to the notion that a bad day on the water is better than a good day in the office...

Shirani Sabaratnam, Producer
Produced Soap Life, five-part entertainment series with Fiona Phillips. I also produced First Up, a music talent show from Toxteth, Liverpool showcasing raw urban acts.

Michelle Brooks, Channel Promo Producer
I'm the Head of Promotions for Community Channel and am responsible for producing unusual and eye-catching promos that highlight the wealth of amazing stories on the Channel. I come armed with crazy ideas and am not afraid to use them. When not found switching my hairstyles weekly to confuse my colleagues (and escape them giving me work), I can often be found enjoying my Mum's West Indian cooking (no I don't live at home, but I might as well) or shooting short films and pop videos whilst singing, dancing and laughing loudly!
Naomi Homel, Community News Producer
Hi I’m Naomi. I help come up with ideas for programmes that we want to make, look for interesting stories and people to feature in these programmes and I help the production get underway! I’ve been described by the person sitting next to me as a ‘music loving, waterpolo playing, crazy Aussie bird’!

Rhiannon Clarke, Audience Support
I deal with all enquiries that come into us here at the Channel - whether you ring our Action Line (08708 505 500), email us, or call on our office line. If you want to know anything about the Channel, then get in touch!

Catherine Sawle, Production Co-Ordinator
I look after the practical side of productions, booking out equipment and edit time aswell as managing the budgets for each project.

Matt Rye, Broadband Assistant Producer

I'm responsible for the production and maintenance of the Broadband Video microsite. I also am responsible for providing Community Channel programming to a wider Broadband audience.

Abigail Dankwa, Head of Programme Acquisitions
I have the unenviable task of making sure there is always a programme on your screen, in full and played out at the right time, without breaking any OFCOM regulations! The main part of my job is researching and sourcing new material to broadcast on the channel. These films come from partnerships with major broadcasters, charity and community organisations and individual filmmakers. When the films come in, I decide when they broadcast and organise getting them to air. If you have a film that you think would be good for Community Channel, please send me a VHS copy with all your details.
Rebecca Fitton, Acquisitions Co-Ordinator
I liaise with various independent filmmakers, production companies, universities, colleges, charities and broadcasters to acquire content for the channel and manage the community regular content providers. I negotiate contracts and ensure the legal clearances are in place. I also research films for specific themes or national campaigns the channel supports and view all content for compliance and suitability to broadcast. If you are interested in supplying programmes to the Channel or volunteering as an Acquisitions Assistant please contact me with your full details.
Nigel Gregory, Editor
I'm the person who sees everything we do - I edit and compile all the programmes ready for transmission.
Mohsin Ait Belaid (aka "Mr Moss"), Technical Assistant (Traffic) / Production Assistant
I manage the flow of programmes between edits and the library to the playout centre at the BBC. I also work with the Acquisitions Team - helping them with key deliveries, dubbing copies of films/programmes and editing. I work with the Production Team - assisting with productions as and when needed. As well as all this work, I also coach football in primary schools, but have a very clever knack of injuring myself whenever I play football myself...

Lesley Syme, DV Camera Operator / Editor
I work on a range of programmes for the Channel as a camera operator and
